2015 Triple Crown Photo Contest: "Racing to Glory"
I. Contest Mechanics
- The contest is open to all members of the Press Photographers of the Philippines.
- Only photos published in a recognized publication, whether print or online, will be considered.
- There will be three legs for the contest, coinciding with the Triple Crown events, with corresponding themes:
The Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom) "unanimously decided to support" the staging of the 3rd Press Photographers of the Philippines Cup, a charity race for the benefit of the groups' members.
PPP, founded in 1951, counts among its members press photographers from various print and online publications.
The proceeds of the race, which could go as high as P120,000, depending on the total of pari-mutuel sales for the event, will augment the PPP's fund for medical and burial assistance, workshops and seminars, and other services for its members.
The current Commission Board, led by the Honorable Chairman Angel L. Castaño, Jr. is elated to convey significant accomplishments for the year 2014 (from January to December), as follows:
- Climb in Total Sales of 5.78%, P8.23 Billion (Estimated to contribute P1.36 Billion in direct government taxes) as compared to P7.78 Billion in 2013. Fifth highest in "Top Ranking" since 1974;
The annual Commissioner's Cup sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission which pays tribute to former PHILRACOM Commissioners this year honors the late Dr. Reynaldo "Eyo" Fernando in recognition for his initiatives in the creation of the Unsound Horses Committee and contributions in technical and relevant veterinary improvements and Atty. Franco M. Loyola for his contributions in relevant legal aspects set to fundamental measures instituted for the Philippine Horse Racing Industry.
The PHILRACOM Board, in its meeting last January 7, 2015 resolved to "cancel and transfer" the races on the first day of the Pope's visit to the Philippines this coming January 15, 2015.
In its Resolution No. 02-15, the PHILRACOM Board, cognizant of Pope Francis' pastoral visit to the Philippines wants to honor and share with the whole Filipino nation of this good news that will hopefully bring much blessings to all of us.
