Last September 28, 2014 the PHILRACOM sponsored 2014 Chairman's Cup was held at the San Lazaro Leisure Park, Carmona Cavite.

The race which honors former PHILRACOM leaders is part of the Commission's programs in promoting local horse racing. This year the coveted cup was held in honor of the former PHILRACOM Chairman and horse racing luminary, Atty. Benedicto K. Katigbak.

The 1600 meter race was contested by the country's best 3YO local-bred horses. Mr. Ruben Dimacuha's Low Profile came up on top ridden by Jockey Mark Angelo Alvarez.

The awarding ceremony was graced by no other than PHILRACOM's very own Chairman Angel L. Castaño, Jr. with Commissioner/Executive Director Jesus B. Cantos , Commissioners; Eddie Jose, Lyndon Guce and Victor Tantoco. Also Present was Dr. Romeo Buencamino.

Representing the late chairman was his family; Isabelo "Ivy" Katigbak (son) with wife Uling, Stella Katigbak Dearing (Daughter), and grandchildren.

Atty. Benedicto Katigbak's plaque of recognition was accepted by Mr. Isabello Katigbak who also revealed that the event itself was the first time he's ever attended a race meet and in fact won a bet.

Upon awarding the plaque, Chairman Castaño shared through his speech a lesson he learned from the late Chairman Katigbak while the former was then Chairman of the Board of Stewards, " What is important is not only your know how, but your integrity. That's why you must always remember that like Ceasar's Wife, you must be beyond suspicion, a man of integrity, and beyond reproach". Words from a wise man.
